Today, our group separated into three groups for the morning and afternoon. One group was teaching a Bible lesson, the second was teaching ESL, and the third group was focused on physical labor. My viewpoint comes from teaching the story of Esther.
Months of preparation finally paid off as we witnessed the children learn the story of Esther. They acted out a skit for each other as well as made “libros de servicio” (service books). These books included acts of service that the children are encouraged to complete.
The children struggled to stay constantly engaged because of their excitement but through their answers to questions, it was evident they understood the lesson. Some children mentioned how service is an act from the heart for the Lord. It was so impactful to hear such profound things from such young children.
Teaching the kids today was both rewarding and eye opening.
